From the very beginning of his career, the Tempted Dissident (Te/DIS) has been blessed with an unmistakable style; with each new release, this style evolves but is wisely never compromised. Thus,
Te/DIS’s new album also features clear, direct electronic music without any gimmicks. Combined with his characteristic voice, this once again results in wonderfully catchy tracks carrying the DNA of early synth-pop—a genre that still possessed a pleasant rawness, which is also present here. Tracks like “Phantom Light,” “Hidden In Plain Sight,” or “Where Demons Live” come to mind. With Te/DIS’s third album, however, we also experience an expansion into darker realms—a more subdued sound, more noise, more minimalism, more pain. Alienation from other people, one’s own existence imperceptible, sinking into the depths. Subsistence rather than existence. The notion of one’s own relevance dissolves—becoming transparent, disappearing: Transparent Subsistence.
