Info: This double album by Schattenspiel is split in two parts: One is a "best of" that gives you a taste of Schattenspiel's albums to date, while the other part is a collection of cover versions of Schattenspiel songs interpreted by several bands and artists. Being a collector of all Schattenspiel's works, I was obviously more eager for the covers part.
Anyone who follows Schattenspiel knows that it is difficult to label their musical style, since it varies from neofolk, dark ambient, industrial, experimental and even a hint of pop at times. So it was to be expected that the artists who feature in the covers part of this double album come from various musical genres and styles. And I must say that they did justice to Schattenspiel's work by providing us with their own magnificent interpretation.
This 5th anniversary double album will be appreciated and enjoyed by both fans like me, as well as people who are new to Schattenspiel's music. -- Reviewer: Kenneth Cassar --
