On 13 November 2007, the Danish electronic artist Claus Larsen will turn 40. We couldn’t have found a better date to release the first volume of the LEAETHER STRIP “Retention” box set series, through which Claus Larsen will be re-releasing his entire back catalogue. Each reissue will feature both the fully remastered version of the original album on Disc 1 and, on the second disc, a collection of songs from the original album completely rewritten and reinterpreted by LEAETHER STRIP themselves, re-recorded using the latest technology.
Originally released in 1990, the first milestone in a long, productive and still-thriving musical career, ‘The Pleasure Of Penetration’ was LEAETHER STRIP’s debut album, which quickly established the band in the early 90s as one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in Europe and a leading act on the cult Zoth-Ommog / Music Research label. Tracks such as “Japanese Bodies”, “Razor Blades” and “Go fuck your ass off!” immediately cemented the “LEAETHER STRIP” trademark, known for its punishing rhythmic tempo and aggressive electronic style with distorted vocals.
The ‘Retention nr1’ box set contains two complementary albums: first, the LP ‘The Pleasure Of Penetration’, remastered by Claus Larsen himself, which lends this masterpiece a stronger and broader sound whilst remaining very faithful to the original work.
