For his seventh birthday: Erntegang: took the decision to re-record a selection of songs between 2007 and 2014 album The dances of death, Der Waldgang, OfLove Words And Hate, and Raubzug Zwielicht.
In Anthology: The Meager Years securities are scrubbed of female vocals, and some arrangements to focus on guitar, vocals and percussion.
: Erntegang: owes much to Death in June, which is far from rare, to use an understatement, in this scene. But S.Manteuffel, the only member of this project, offers simple and catchy compositions including a mobilizing energy hatched membership, which is especially convincing on songs like: The Dance of Death the opening track, Misantropia where one can hear the influence of Type O Negative (We Hate Everyone) Muspell's Sons, Plastic Society, Salvation, and The Sword of reason.
The vocals are quite effective with multiple variations. Indeed, the main song, full of nobility, often answers a whispered chant, but parts rather declaimed can also be heard instead of female singing original songs.
Overall, there is always a game between these different types of singing all along these 16 tracks, which produces a variety of welcome sensation because the guitars lines are sometimes a bit redundant.
In all cases these reinterpretations are not lacking sharp teeth and are often relevant, as they are gaining austerity and break a bit bombastic aspects that some songs could have in earlier drafts present on previous albums.
With the slogan to go to the basics this compilation which is both a look into the past and a rereading of the work marks an assessment phase, which will perhaps give the keys of a new era for this musician. Note that a new song more ambient, Bunker, closing this compilation.
